U15′s v Hollinwood

Game played on Sunday 13th November with a 2pm ko, at Egmount St playing fields, the starting line up was Hayden Roberts (GK), Matty Buckley, Alex Philpot, Elliot Blenkinsop (Capt), James Brooke, Nathan Beckles, Danny Laithwaite, Cam Dooley, Murthaz, Lewis Henshall, Patrick Temperley, Subs Josh Leah, Rob Hird, Ashan, Jack Derbyshire, Ifran.

Game kicked off in perfect Autumn sunshine, between two teams who knows each others game backwards from the previous season, Hollinwood threatened first with Hayden pulling off a good save in the 11th minute.  Mossley sonn went on the attack and a finely put together move saw Partick miss a good chance to open the scoring, both teams exchanged moves without any real threat, that was until the 32minute when the Hollinwood keeper pulled off a double world class save to deny Patrick then Lewis to leave a half time score of 0-0.

Second half got off  to a slow start with the teams once again cancelling out each others attacks, both defences were domanant which made for compelling viewing, and both teams shooting from long range.  Both managers made changes trying to make in roads into the game, and it was finally the visitors who broke the dead lock when a shot from Callum Wetton on the edge of the box found its was into the Mossley goal in the 55th minute of the game.  This set back rocked the home team and the next quater of the game was spent repelling attacks from a now conifdent visiting team, Mossley players onceagain got a grip on the game and came close with Ifran’s effort.

The drama was about to unfold, with 1 minute of the game left Mossley was awarded a free kick 25 yards from goal, and Nathan stepped up to curl the free over the wall to find the bottom left corner of the goal, to level the score, straight from the kick off Hollinwood launched an attack which led to a throw in level with our 18 yard box, the trow in then resulted in a corner, which our defence failed to clear and with the last kick of the game Callum Wetton ramed home the winning goal from 4 yards out, to give Hollinwood the win.

Managers Thought’s

To say I was “Gutted” is an understatement, and the disappointed looks on the players faces after the game, was heart breaking, this sport can be very cruel at thimes, i hope they take that disapointment and turn it into a positive in our next fixture, ” as always” i was proud of my team today.
