U15′s v Middleton Lads

Our first league  game of the season saw us playing at home (King George Playing Fields) against Middleton Lads in a Sunday afternoon kick off.

Before the game started we were hampered with the late withdrawal due to illness of our top scorer from last season Conor Fletcher, and our regular Goalkeeper Hayden Roberts, this left us with only ten men to start and complete the game.

After a slow start we eventually remembered we were a footballing side and when we completed a three pass move, which saw Nathan Beckles tap in a chance at the far post, Middleton drew level mid way through the half with a badly defended corner, and took the lead with a wonder strike near to half time interval.

The second half started positively for us despite the disadvantage of being a man light we had chances to draw level and take the lead, but with time running out and the tiring players from Mossley, Middleton made the game safe in the 75th minute

This was a great team performance and despite our disadvantage I was disappointed with the result, some fantastic individual performances from Nathan Beckles, Elliot Blenkinsop, Alex Philpot, and man of the match in goal Rob Hird.
